Accept
Every person has some circumstances that they'd prefer not to. Even those people who seem perfect to you from the outside. I mean I couldn't walk, but I know there were some two-leggers out there who didn't even get gummy bears with their school lunch. Could you imagine? Anyways, everybody has their own challenges and it's up to us to accept where we are first and foremost.
Plan
Ok so now you're all motivated because you've accepted where you are and you've chosen who you want to be. It's not like I just immediately stood up and cured my Cerebral Palsy. It took real intentional planning to get to where I want to be. Surrounding myself with the right people. And making space in my life to make this a reality.
Choose
Hey look you may be belly down on the carpet right now but your mind still has the ability to change your situation. It's important to definitively choose to start right now being the person you plan to be. At least in the way you think about yourself and what you're capable of. That's the first "step" to picking yourself up and walking the walk... ironically for me.
Do
Remember, I was told I'd never walk. Since then I've played basketball, gone for hikes, climbed mountains, and started a career in "Stand Up" comedy. It's about having faith and courage. And taking little risks. Do the small things everyday and you'll be surprised by how far you can come in a year. Small goals multiply into big achievements.
